About East Baptist Church

We are an independent Baptist Church that believes the Bible.  Our purpose is simple:

Glorify God – Follow Jesus – Share the Good News of the Gospel with Others

“Will I go to heaven when I die?”

The good news is that you do not need to wonder or even worry about the answer.  God has stated very clearly in the Bible His plan for salvation, and that there is only one way to heaven:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   John 14:6
Going to heaven when you die is not about what church you attend, how many good things you did compared to how many bad things you did, or how much money you give to charity.  Jesus said in John 3:7 that a person “must be born again” in order to go to heaven.
In order to be born again – that is, to be saved – you must take a hard look at yourself, and realize and admit that you are a sinner.  The Bible says:
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.   Romans 3:23
God is very clear in the Bible about the punishment for sinners:
“For the wages of sin is death”  Romans 6:23
That’s right: Every person (including me and you) is a sinner condemned.  Thankfully, God did not stop there.  He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life and die on the cross as a payment for the penalty of your sin, my sin – and all the sin of all mankind. Then Jesus did something no one has ever done – he arose from the grave, alive!
But God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8
God, the Creator of the World, made a way for each of us to be saved.  In the Bible, the question was asked of Paul and Silas while they were in prison…”Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” and their simple reply was “…believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved”.  Acts 16:31.
Have you ever asked God to forgive you once and for all?   You can by praying this simple prayer:
“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and I am a sinner, separated from you.  I am sorry, and I now turn away from my sins and my sinful past and turn toward you.  Please forgive me.  I know that your son, Jesus, died for my sins, and he rose from the grave and is alive.  I ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life.  Please help me to follow Jesus for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
If you have truly asked God to forgive you of your sins, and you have repented (turned from your sins) and now desire to follow Jesus, then the Bible says you are saved:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:13
If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we say “congratulations” and “welcome to the family of God!”
